Week 49 - “Heart: the anchor”
Hello Pilates People!!!!
Happy Sunday! We wanted to start this week with an official THANK YOU for our Feed the Love class last week! Thanks to YOU we were able to donate $750 to Feed the Frontlines NYC!
We're bringing our donation classes back and are happy to announce that our next one will be on Sunday, March 28th at 10am to benefit The Family Center - so mark your calendars and if you have an organization that you'd like us to partner with for April and beyond, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
And LAST CALL for our" Meridians and Mirrors" workshop TODAY at 10am with Dr. Christopher Peacock!
Here's a little preview of what we'll be getting into:
"...meridians are defined as pathways through which energy flows and connects various points of the body. This workshop hopes to define, explore and make these meridians digestible and accessible for every day life.
In this workshop we will:
Go over what fascia is and why it’s important
Take a deep dive into the meridian theory and how it relates to our fascial network
Review the meridian systems and their related organs
Go through mind-body connections and the why behind physical pain as a manifestation of emotional pain
How we can use these concepts in our every day lives and why they’re important!"
We're very excited about this one and hope you can join! It's just $25 to drop in and $20 for our Aligned members!
To sign up, please click here. If you'd like information about the recording of this workshop, please reach out!
And finally, a quick note about our private sessions and LIVE classes. We are coming up on Pilates People's 1st birthday (stay tuned for celebration plans!!!) and as we're continuing to realize that this is a real thing, an official business and something that isn't going away (all positives!), we're also reevaluating our place in the fitness industry.
As many of you know (because you were watching it happen in real time as I made up "the rules") there were almost no standards or guidelines when this all began. I really had no idea what I was doing, other than I wanted to be there for all of you and keep us all together in movement.
Jenni and I still want exactly that, but we've realized that our prices are a little too low for what we're offering based on the overall industry standard that has formed around this virtual fitness world.
So, as of March 1st, 2020 we'll be raising our Private sessions pricing by $5/session and LIVE class pricing by $1/class across the board. Meaning, a drop in class will now be $16 instead of $15, and that $1 will carry over into our package options as well. We are happy to say that the extra $ you pay will go directly to our instructors, so they get a little raise for all the work they put into planning your classes and being there for you every week!
As always, we want to keep you moving and if money is the barrier to entry, WE WANT TO KNOW so we can help you! We are happy to work with you to find a solution and get you back on your mat as soon as possible.
Now, let's get into the good stuff.
When Jenni and I were talking this week, she said, "We've spent so much time trying to FIX our hearts. What if they don't need to be fixed?"
And I loved that.
To clarify, your heart does not need fixing. Your heart is strong - you've proven that time and again this past year. We perhaps went into overprotective mode this month because, well, to be completely honest I'm newly terrified of hearts and how they can silently work themselves into the ground without telling you or anyone else they need you to stop.
But they can get away with that because they are just that strong.
So, we want you to take everything we've talked about this month and use it when you need to, but more than that, we want you to trust your heart and yourself.
As we've discussed, hearts are so complex and cover so much ground - physically, mentally and emotionally. Your heart knows you, on every level.
What better than something that is so intrinsically tied to so many different facets of you to act as your anchor?
I don't know how much time you've spent around anchors, and therefore probably boats, but in my experience you don't really spend a lot of time analyzing the anchor. You just trust that it's there for you, when and if you need it.
So let's do that. Let's trust that our hearts are there for us when we need them, because in this case, there are no ifs.
We need our hearts, and that's been the point this month.
Here's hoping you've taken a moment to allow space for discovery and found something new in all of this. Let's keep doing that and keep taking care of ourselves and each other.
We're still here. So are you. Always.
All our love,
Cassandra + Pilates People
